Our daughter Sophie was born with multiple severe medical disabilities. From the moment we heard her diagnosis, our world changed forever.

The road has been long and difficult - full of hospital stays, uncertainty, therapies and countless challenges and battles.

But it has been filled with incredible people, small victories and moments of pure joy.

Through it all Sophie has shown us what true strength courage and determination look like.

She inspires us every day with her smile, her resilience and her unstoppable spirit.

Sophie's journey is why CMA exists - to celebrate children like her, who faces everyday bravery beyond word.

What we offer

At CMA, we are dedicated to recognizing the bravery, strength, and journey of children facing medical challenges while celebrating the incredible healthcare sectors involved in their care and treatment.

CMA offers meaningful recognition awards, awareness campaigns, community support, and inspirational events that honor both brave children and the healthcare teams who make a difference every day. From neurology, oncology and respiratory care to cardiology, spinal care, renal services, and beyond, CMA shines a light on every sector that helps children and families through difficult times.

Our goal is simple — to celebrate courage, raise awareness, inspire hope, and remind every child and family that they are never alone.

Our newest product is our very own children's book inspired by our Sophie, called 'Sophie and the Inside Out Adventures'.  These aim to focus on medical procedures many of our children will face and educate them in a child friendly way.  Along the way, Sophie will go on adventures with other characters including Santa and the Easter Bunny.

Why choose us

At CMA, we are more than an organisation — we are a family-built mission created from real-life experience, love, resilience, and hope.

Founded by husband and wife team Gary and Kirsty Fitzwater, CMA was inspired by their daughter Sophie, who lives with multiple complex medical conditions. Through years of hospital stays, treatments, therapies, uncertainty, and ongoing care, Gary and Kirsty experienced firsthand the incredible dedication shown by the medical professionals, support teams, and healthcare sectors involved in Sophie’s journey.

Rather than letting those challenges define them, they chose to turn their experience into something meaningful — creating and designing CMA to celebrate brave children, honour healthcare heroes, support families, and raise awareness for children facing medical challenges every single day.

Sophie remains the heart of CMA. Her courage, smile, strength, and determination continue to inspire every part of the organisation, and she proudly helps inspire ideas, creativity, and the vision behind the awards. CMA was built not only to recognize medical journeys, but to remind families that they are never alone.

Working with CMA means becoming part of a compassionate, supportive, and inspiring community that truly understands the realities families face. We believe every child deserves recognition, every family deserves support, and every medical journey deserves to be celebrated with dignity, kindness, and hope.
